It has kind of became a silly joke in our house now every time someone gets bit by a mosquito. You show someone a mosquito bite and they instantly tease about how you have “The Zika” but honestly it’s not really funny at all to the people out there who are suffering because of the Zika Virus. As people we have a tendency to think we are bigger than every problem in the world and that we are immortal when it comes to it. I mean seriously no one ever plans to be diagnosed with cancer, or become an addict, or sometimes even a parent but things happen and it is never to early to take preventative steps to ensure your life can go as smoothly as possible.
This post is more focused to all my preggos out there or even women in general but overall everyone should implement these safe and natural products into their lives to help reduce the spread of this horrible, life-altering virus. Please take note that men can be carriers if bitten and infected. Sexual intercourse will pass it on to someone else so always practice safe sex even if it is your life partner and especially if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Here are some safe and natural products to use to prevent mosquito bites that can infect you:
Essential Oils have been gaining so much ground these last few years and it’s because they truly are amazing. They can help cure many ailments and there are so many kinds to experiment with. The following oils help repel mosquito bites:
- Citronella Essential Oil
- Soybean Oil
- Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus
- Lavender Oil
- Rosemary Oil
- Cedar Bark Oil
If you would like more info on where these oils come from and how they help to prevent mosquito bites check out this site here. You can buy this Essential Oil Variety Set that contains several of the oils listed above or you can buy them individually on Amazon for a reasonable price.
I didn’t even know there were mosquito patches out there that were a natural alternative to the sprays and I am really interested in checking these out to review for you all. If you have used these or purchase them after today I would love to hear about your experience as well. Here is a few I found to check out:
I always love a good excuse to buy a new bracelet. These will provide you and children a safe and natural way to protect yourselves. They come in colors and styles for everyone. I especially love the zebra print!
Recently a FSU research team has made a breakthrough to a cure for the Zika virus and it just so happens to be a product that is already on the market to cure something else. It is safe for pregnant women to take but until some more research and testing is done the government will not market this as a cure. Therefore, you should continue to take steps to safeguard yourself and your family. You can read more about it here. For more info on what the Zika Virus is and the symptoms please visit the CDC website here.
What are other ways you and your family protect yourselves or any recommended products that are safe and natural for anyone including pregnant women to use? I would love to hear about them in the comments below! I will be ordering some patches and posting my review here once I have properly tested the product.
