I don’t know about you, but this December has me drained! I went into it so excited for all the holiday festivities. But now I wish I could just get one more hour of sleep. My email inbox is currently out of control and the house is trashed. Honestly, I wouldn’t change this month for the world.
A lot of hard work went into all the holiday festivities which is why I am so damn tired. This month my sweet little Lilly Jo turned one…YAY! We of course also took her to her first Santa encounter and did a ton of Christmas shopping. My brother-in-law came home to visit from school at the University of Miami as well. He only gets to come home once a year. All in all, it was a fun, exciting month and I want to share the loves of my life with all of you!
Lilly Jo’s One Year Birthday
So seriously guys, my boyfriend and I didn’t know how we were going to pay for Lilly’s birthday, one year pictures, and Christmas this year. In November, Joey changed his job he’s had securely for almost 3 years to make more money but we didn’t know going in how many hours he would work and his new job pays every 2 weeks instead of every week like we are use to. We obviously ended up with a paycheck gap! So I started selling Plexus from home to try and supplement the gap and keep our bills at least paid. Santa truly blessed us this year because his checks are bigger than we ever imagined and my faith in Plexus is really beginning to take off and prosper beyond my wildest dreams.
Because of this we were able to give Lilly a real birthday party for her first party! I was so happy I could just go to the store and pick out whatever I wanted and didn’t have to worry about asking people for stuff I needed. The only thing I didn’t get was Bubble Guppies stuff. Let me tell you mamas, and I am sure you probably already know, the Bubble Guppy hunt is a hard road! My best luck was finding candles on Amazon for $8 and no prime….um hello…NO! Shipping without Prime is ridiculous now a days or maybe I have just become so spoiled by it!
Anyways, shes one and loved her simple Walmart cake with cupcakes. Of course, she loved her presents but I think mommy allowing her to dig into a cupcake and making a huge blue mess was her favorite part. Needless to say, I had to give her a bath right after and now I know next year to let her be naked lol! I advise all mommies out there not to use blue icing as your color of choice in these situations…it stained EVERYTHING!!!
After her nap, she ended up crashing instead of being crazy off sugar…thank god. She spent the rest of her birthday Netflix and chilling aka taking a very long nap.
Christmas Time Is Here
I couldn’t help but sing, “Christmas time is here. Happiness and cheer. Fun for all, that children call, their favorite time of year!” when I wrote that headline. Christmas is 2 days gone but I still find myself reminiscing on all the joys it brought. I mean, for real, what else is there to look forward to in the next few months?
While I contemplate that, I guess I should share my other dilemma. Lilly’s one year pictures! I could only afford either Santa pictures or an actual portrait this December. I was going to make the portrait holiday themed anyways since she was born 3 days before Christmas so I decided to just do Santa. I’ll probably get her one year done in January but I’ll probably procrastinate about it too.
I was really hoping her first picture with Santa would be just her and no tears since she loves pictures so much. This is when I realized some dreams never come true! Thank god I had actually put makeup on and straightened my hair before going to the mall for what was suppose to be a quick in and out picture! Joey wanted to get copies of the one by herself howling at the ceiling but I just had to have at least one good picture for family and friends. At least my mom is happy to see me actually wearing the hoodie she got me for Christmas!
Despite the frumpy picture, Lilly still looked totally cute in her dress MawMaw got her from the Hard Rock in Miami! This picture doesn’t do it justice so here is a closer one. The detail in the roses on this dress is AMAZING so I have to show it off!
Joy To The World
Christmas is finally over!!!! Between all the last minute shopping, night before gift wrapping, butt crack of dawn wake up, and all day cooking…I am just beat! Yeah, I know I already said this but seriously I am still re-cooperating.
My mother-in-law and I are nuts and decided to go last minute shopping on Christmas Eve. We didn’t need to. I don’t know what we were thinking but since we had a house full of sickies we thought they just needed more because they were so miserable.
Then when we got home it was already time to make Santa’s cookies. All the littles were so excited to decorate them but thankfully were to excited to go to sleep early. These are the times I wish Santa came every day! I have never seen kids so happy to go to bed early in my life!
Paired with the sugar rush from the cookies, we dove in an started wrapping the presents. It took 5 people and 2 hours just to get it all done. I couldn’t wait until bed. I was barely holding on by a thread and starting to feel loopy.
I couldn’t be happier than the way it turned out though! Everyone got a lot of stuff and we didn’t have to worry about arguing over toys this year or seeing them get bored in 24 hours with what they got. Our search for the elusive last minute Hatchimal didn’t turn out well nor did finding the Bubble Guppies. Regardless, Lilly Jo and the others were so excited about everything they asked for and more. Even my mother-in-law got bombarded with more gifts than usual!
I am so happy this Christmas and December turned out so amazing. It really felt like the longest month out of the whole year but it was totally worth it. My baby Lilly Jo id just growing and growing. Her intelligence and whit already astounds me and I can’t wait to watch her grow another year. Hopefully she will be walking in the next few month and maybe get a few more words out of her.
I hope all of my readers had an awesome December! What holiday festivities did you partake in?
