Halloween is my favorite holiday and time of year.
I love all the exciting energy in the air and the really creative costumes. This year was special to me though. Lilly is now 10 months and celebrated her first Halloween!!!!
True, she probably had no idea what was going on. Take this beautiful picture of her balling her eyes out over mommy making her wear her first headband! Oh, the HORROR!!!
I decided against buying a cliche costume this year. The thought of shelling out $50 for something she will only wear once just didn’t sit right with me. Plus, I just wanted it to be simple and cute. The onesie can also be used more than once and was made with great quality material. The headband was also amazing and super stretchy and durable. The tutu was good. Not the best I’ve seen but got the job done for a toddlers costume and was durable as well. The costume was sold by CAKYE and you can find this and some other styles and seasonal attire on Amazon.
Once we got outside, and the headband was removed, all was well again! She was so distracted by all the kids running around in strange outfits she didn’t know where to look.
Eventually, I was able to get the headband back on her without any fuss. It was a Halloween Miracle! She lasted about an hour out trick or treating and
was super quiet the whole time. She is usually a little chatter box! Our neighborhood is amazing and so many people participate since it’s a gated community. Some of them gave out little toys to the kids who couldn’t have candy and of course we have the teal pumpkins!
In the end, I think we had an amazing first Halloween and I can’t wait til next year. By then she will be old enough to walk. Mama will not be carrying her around anymore like I had to towards the end. I do not recommend any moms to walk up a steep hill, in the last stretch towards home, carrying a tired baby…it was not the post Halloween candy workout I was looking for!
Did your little one celebrate their first Halloween? What do you think Lilly should be next year? I’d love to hear your stories and suggestions in the comments below!
